Congratulations to Rory Brennan in 5th Class on winning the World Championships in the Hornpipe Irish Dancing Competition last weekend. It is an extraordinary achievement and we are very proud of him. Also congratulations to past pupil Niamh Prior on winning her first full Irish  International cap. Congratulations also to Daniel Boyle (6th Class) on winning the schools Spelling Bee, good luck in the next round Daniel. Our school teams will represent the school in chess, soccer, hurling and athletics over the coming months.

Our best wishes for the future to our former Caretaker Shay Doyle who finished up in the school last March. Shay did a terrific job brightening up the school grounds during his time with us and  we wish him and all of his family (All of Shay’s children came to St Damian’s) all the best. Our new Caretaker is Christy Coleman and we welcome him to our school community.

All Parents and Guardians are asked to take great care taken while driving in the proximity of the school. The Staff Car Park is for staff and official school visitors only. It should not be used by any parent to either drop children in the morning or collect  children in the afternoon. The reason for this is that we want to keep our children safe and the fewer cars that use the car park the safer it is. Any Parents who drive into the car park in the morning or afternoon will be asked to leave by the school caretaker.

The Green Schools Committee is very active and  would like every child to grow something at home with their families.  It could be cress seeds, lettuce, daffodils, peas etc. It would be great if people could take before and after pictures and email the pictures to stdamiansoffice@gmail.com.  Children are asked to bring in their produce when it has grown and present it to their classes.

The Green Schools Committee would also like children to write  a Green School Code (A short catchy statement) for our new theme biodiversity.  Please give all entries to Ms. Ryan Room 2.

Children are also asked to take photographs of wildlife, plants trees, flowers, insects etc.  The Committee will award to prizes for the winning photos!
