Sports day was very fun because we got to go out and about. There was a ice cream van and we got free ice cream. The sports were gaelic, football, spikeball, sponge race and sack race. We had four teams green, white, red and yellow. After we played the activities we did the relays and sprints. After that the 600m race was up. In the 6th and 5th class girls race Eimear won and in the boys Colin won.

June 10th, 2017 · Comments Off on Erasmus + Folk Tales 5th Class

We read two of the folk tales from our partner countries. We chose the Polish one and the Italian one, The Legend of Smok Wawelski and The Prince Who Married a Frog. We enjoyed the stories and the lovely illustrations that the children in those countries drew. We drew our own illustrations, we hope you like them!

5th Class Irish Aid Workshop

June 10th, 2017 · Comments Off on 5th Class Irish Aid Workshop

Rang a cúig visited Irish Aid last Thursday. We took part in a workshop there. One session was focused on Tanzanian culture. We learned where Tanzania is, what language the people there speak and some proverbs also. We dressed in khangas, which are bright, colourful, traditional, cotton cloths with a proverb written on each. We learned a Tanzanian song and danced as we sang. We then played drums and other percussion instruments. During the second session we learned about the work of Irish Aid. We found out about the United Nation’s 17 sustainable development goals which they hope to achieve by 2030. We made a list of the things we would like to see change for the world by 2030. We talked about our role in making this planet a better place for all it’s citizens.

Girls Soccer 2017

May 31st, 2017 · Comments Off on Girls Soccer 2017

The girls reached the semi final of the league against Bracken ETNS. They lost 5-3 on the day.  It was a wonderful season with great matches along the way, especially their quarter final clash when they overcame St Bernadette’s, winning 2-1. Well done to the 6th class girls who played their last match for the school. They were wonderful representatives of the school over the years. We wish them well and hope they continue to enjoy and flourish in their sporting careers.
