Drums, Dancing, Fun and Learning with Irish Aid

May 14, 2015 · No Comments

On Tuesday 5th class went on a trip to Irish Aid, we learned a lot of facts about Mali and Tanzania. We also explored the Iveagh Garden before hand.

We learned proverbs in Swahili, like ‘Haracka, haracka, haina, baracka’, also known as ‘Hurry hurry has no blessing’.

We saw a video about a girl’s life in Africa her name was Memory, she was only 18, she worked for her family, when it was five in the morning she would get up early, she would go and get potatoes and she would cook them. When it was near to school time she would get her lunch and her three sisters lunches and they headed off to school.

When she came back home she would go out and play football with her friends, at seven o’ clock she would do her homework in the dark.

We went into a room, and we saw a slide show about Tanzania and  it was cool!

We got to wear colourful Kangas , and we got to play Bongos .  We got to dance to a song HuJambo it was a very good song! We had so much fun!
