Well done to all the Damo’s girls who represented the school soccer team this year. It has been a busy few weeks with matches. The girls met some tough competition on the way and they stepped up to the mark showing great determination and heart.
In the cup they were extremely unlucky to be knocked out by St. Peter Apostle, Neilstown on a very windy and wet day. At full time it was even-stevens thanks to a late goal by Lara. Nothing could separate the teams after extra time and we went on to lose out in penalties 5-4.
In the league they finished in a respective third place. They got off to a flying start beating Scoil Bhride Ranelagh 3-1 with a stunning hatrick by Sarah. They then went on to play John Scottus N.S, St Kilian’s and St Bernadette’s Quarryvale. It was a very enjoyable season for all involved! The girls are an absolute credit to the school and fantastic bunch to work with! Ms Daly, Ms Miley and Shea would like to thank them for their great efforts. A special mention to the 6th class girls Lara, Sophie, Catriona, Mollie, Sadhbh, Abbie and Ciara who played their last match for St Damian’s. They have represented the school wonderfully over the years and hopefully the girls leave St Damian’s with fond memories of wearing the yellow and black.
