St Damian’s Host Girls Blitz

October 22, 2014 · No Comments

Today we hosted a gaelic football blitz for girls for the first time in the Eight Acres. We invited Gaeilscoil Bharra from Cabra, Presentation Primary from Terenure and our neighbours St Paul’s. Our girls competed really well and they finished the season off in great style. They showed great pride, determination and never gave up right until the final whistle in their last match. Ms Daly had a vested interest in our match against St Paul’s as her sister trains St Paul’s and we played superb against them which she was delighted about! Massive congratulations to Presentation Primary who won the overall tournament. Special thanks to Mr O’Connor and Shea for setting up the pitch and Audrey for organising the goodies! Ms Daly and Ms Miley were extremely proud of all of our girls!  A great day was had by all!

Mollie’s Special Day in Croke Park

October 22, 2014 · No Comments

Mollie in 6th class enjoyed a really special experience that most people can only dream about as she played in Croke Park during the break at the All Ireland Final between Donegal and Kerry. Mollie played terrific and she was even on the winning team Kerry. She represented St Damian’s wonderfully and she got a lovely Kerry kit to keep as a momento of the incredible day!

Green Schools Day of Action for Water

October 17, 2014 · No Comments

We had our Green schools Day of Action today.  It was such a wonderful day.  All the children in the school wore something “blue” and some children made costumes – the theme being water.  Some children dressed up as boats, fish, taps, showers etc.  Other children made things such as taps, water meters, sinks etc.  We all went to the hall for an assembly at 11.30.  Each class did something different.  Some classes acted out role-plays, others read poems they had written and sang songs.  Sixth class did science experiments and demonstrated them in front of the whole school.  At the end, the whole school sang the water cycle song.  It was a really wonderful day.

Thank you so much everyone for all your hard work.  I am one very proud teacher!

Corn Scoil Damian

October 16, 2014 · No Comments

In the first year of the Inter School Cross Country Cup held yesterday in Tymon Park, St Damian’s emerged as winners of the competition. They won a beautiful new cup sponsored by Cumann na mBunscol. Over 180 children took part in the competition and everyone had a fantastic day. Over 60 children from St Damians were on the school team and many of them won gold silver and bronze in their own races. We have trained very hard since the start of the year in our after school sports on Mondays in the 8 acres. There was a great atmosphere in Tymon Park with lots of Parents turning up to watch. The Mayor of South Dublin County Council came along to present some medals. Helping out on the finish line was former winner of the Dublin City Marathon, Emily Dowling. Thanks to everyone who helped to make such a memorable day for all the children. Scoil Damian Abu!
